Out of the entire US coastline there is no other location where warm, clear water current comes as close to the coast as it does in Palm Beach County, Florida. This Gulf Stream Current keeps our coast bathed in clear nutrient rich water, resulting in the largest diversity and abundance of marine life to be found anywhere in the United States.

As you move from the keys north to palm beach, the shallow water areas get narrower and narrower all the way up to palm beach county. This allows for a unique concentration of shallow water species to be enjoyed in all of the shallow waters in Palm Beach County.

In addition, our geographic location allows both tropical species as well as some temperate water species to live here. Simply put, Palm Beach County Florida has arguably some of the best diving in all of the US, based on the abundance and diversity of animals.

This area boasts marine life from tiny seahorses all the way up to huge Goliath groupers, and everything in between. Five of the seven species of sea turtles can be found here, including the Leatherback, Loggerhead, Hawksbill, green and Kemp’s Ridley.

In August and beginning of September the largest spawning aggregation of Goliath groupers can be enjoyed on our shipwrecks. The Blue Heron Bridge marine park has been voted twice as the “People choice Best Shore Dive” worldwide.

The Gulf Stream current allows this entire area to “drift dive” AKA “lazy man’s diving” and cover an immense area, with very little swimming needed. No need to remember where the boat is when diving with us, as our captain follows your dive flag on the surface. Due to the average dive depths of 45 feet to 100 feet, Nitrox is highly recommended and available on the Shear Water.
