In season, our liveaboard travels from Riviera Beach, Florida, to both Tiger Beach and Bimini Island where guests are invited on a one-of-a-kind experience to interact with Great Hammerheads, tiger sharks, lemons, bulls, caribbean reef shark and the worlds’ friendliest dolphin species, the Atlantic Spotted Dolphin. We return to Riviera Beach, Florida on all our Bahamas trips.

Great Hammerheads are among the worlds most impressive, yet rarely seen oceanic predators. Not to be confused with the smaller, more common, scalloped hammerhead which can be seen schooling in many locations around the world.

The Shear Water is the fastest liveaboard to get to both of the Bahamas most premiere shark locations, Tiger Beach, founded by our owner, Jim Abernethy in 2001, and the world-famous Bimini waters for Great Hammerheads. Encountering the Great Hammerhead- with its spectacular angularity, its orca-like dorsal fin, and its bristle-toothed mouth- is at the very pinnacle of wildlife adventure. While tiger, lemon, nurse, and Caribbean reef sharks can be seen year-round, Great Hammerheads and bulls can be found during October to May in both locations.

Generally, on each trip we ask our guests which shark species they really want to see and we adjust our itinerary to meet these requests.

This trip will get you face-to-face with these species, cage-free, on the only liveaboard with truly unlimited diving.

The Shear Water is the only liveaboard to feature large capacity tanks, Nitrox, and unlimited non-stop diving from morning through night-dive. The pool is always open!
