Our Oceanic White Tip Expedition is the very best trip worldwide to experience one of the most endangered large predatory sharks, the Oceanic White Tip. This species is the poster child for conservation.

After Jacque Cousteau circumnavigated the world in 1932, his scientists claimed that the most abundant large animal on the planet was clearly the oceanic white tip shark. This is a highly endangered pelagic shark species, whose populations have been decimated. Today, no ocean worldwide claims to have even 1% of that original population.

I discovered this last stronghold of oceanic white tip sharks in 2010. I don’t know how much longer they will be here, however this is the main focus of this expedition. Even though we visit many other stunningly gorgeous areas and aquatic wildlife along the trip, the main objective is experiencing oceanic white tip sharks for extended periods of time. This trip has us traveling 380 miles from our dock and back, in a short amount of time. We do our best to complete the majority of travel overnight while you sleep, to maximize our daytime hours for wildlife interactions.

During this trip, we will also visit the world famous ‘Tiger Beach’. This spectacular shark diving location is unlike any other in the world and guarantees one of the most unique underwater experiences in a diver’s life! The shallow patch of sand flats, located north of the West End of Grand Bahama Island, boasts vibrantly colored reefs, and is the most reliable, consistent, and arguably most photographically pleasing spot on Earth to photograph these striped beauties.

Day 1 – Arrival Day

Welcome!  Board the boat at 4pm for our legendary shark safety and boat briefings. After setting up your dive gear, dinner will be served. We will depart early evening to arrive in the Bahamas overnight and dock at customs.

Day 2-7

After clearing customs we create our schedule, taking the weather forecast in mind, to be successful with our primary goal -seeing one of the most endangered sharks in the world, the Oceanic White Tip shark.

From our dock we travel 380 miles to get to the very last worldwide stronghold of this species.

Along the way we intend to:

• enjoy the friendliest species of dolphins in the world, the Atlantic Spotted Dolphins
• dive at the best shark diving location worldwide, Tiger Beach
• play with the swimming pigs of the Bahamas
• explore the thunderball cave
• swim with whatever large pelagic wildlife we encounter along the way

Day 8

On the last day of diving we depart Bahamas at 5pm and travel back to Florida for our 7am customs & immigration appointment. After completing our appointment, it is just 10 minutes back to our dock. We generally get back by 9:30 am.
